WHO WE ARE
OUR MISSION
Our mission is to rebuild the lives of San Antonio, Texas area amputees -- physically and emotionally -- by providing peer support, education, advocacy, recreation, and financial assistance for basic home and car modifications.
OUR HISTORY
Our Founder, Mona Patel, was struck by a drunk driver when she was 17. After years of attempting limb salvage, she opted for amputation to improve her quality of life. As a new amputee in 1997, she searched for a support group, but found none. She vowed to start her own support group so that no other amputees in the San Antonio area would be without support as she had been. More than twenty years later, the group has grown to a monthly average attendance of 80 members. In 2014, the organization received its 501(c)(3) non-profit status as the San Antonio Amputee Foundation.

They became the proving ground for a diverse group of hikers, and whose journey showed the world you can accomplish anything you put your mind and heart into.
