The San Antonio Amputee Foundation (SAAF) is the largest and most active community-based amputee organization in the country. We have lovingly been serving amputees and their families for close to 30 years. In 2014, SAAF became a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a mission to help rebuild the lives of amputees through peer support (individual and group), education, advocacy, social work/case management services, adaptive sports programs, and opportunities for socialization and community volunteerism.
Did you know there are about 5.6 million people living with limb loss or limb difference in the U.S. today?
San Antonio holds the highest rates of lower limb amputations due to diabetes in both Texas and in the entire United States. San Antonio averages 1500-2000 amputations every year.
We are here to help people living with limb loss and limb difference, and to make sure no one travels this journey alone!
Our general group meets the 2nd Saturday of every month at 10 am: Morgan Wonderland's Multi-Assistance Center (MAC) at 5210 Thousand Oaks Drive, San Antonio, TX 78233
We provide social work/case management, education, advocacy and more for our amputee community.
We provide educational resources and recreational activities including our annual ski trip, monthly social activities and volunteer opportunities to give back to the community.
